That’s not a metaphor.
I’m serious. This post has nothing to do with marital stuff, except that hopefully the couple that weeds together, stays together…
That photo is of yet another, ridiculous zucchini. This is what happens when you don’t thin your gourds and squashes, people. They take over the garden and then you forget to visit for three days because you think the rain is good, and then you come back and there’s a three-pound zucchini (inedible–they get bitter when they are that big) laying in the path.
I wish the birds/rodents/bugs would eat the zucchini and not our tomatoes. I caught a glimpse of several rats in the plot next to ours and running through our plot today. They were actually cute–maybe they were just big mice, or small rats. They sure weren’t the behemoth rats that usually take over DC in the summer.
Ahh, city gardening!!

yes, those rats love tomatoes! (in fact, it’s a Big Reason why I don’t grow tomatoes in our own garden–our dogs “treed” a rat in our tomato plant lst year and I was so traumatized by the sight of it that I vowed not to grow tomatoes again).
but that zucchini! very impressive.
